The Food I Eat!

H-town StrEATs again....

Here are a couple more creations from the H-town StrEATs food truck. This time I tried the shortrib/mac & cheese grilled cheese sandwich and their shrimp and grits with a fried egg.

Frank the Pretzel

Meet Frank the Pretzel. A chicken poblano sausage and Chardonnay mustard on a soft pretzel bun as served by Eatsie Boys mobile eatery.

You can check them out at http://eatsieboys.com/.

Gatlin's BBQ

I was in the Heights area for lunch today and decided to try Gatlin's BBQ.  I had heard about the great brisket and ribs from my twitter stream and couldn't wait to get my hands on some.  I was not disappointed.  This is a family run local businness serving up some of the best BBQ in Houston.  I'll be back real soon!

Leonard's Famous Burgers

Seems to be a trend with me lately, but here goes another burger post.  I wanted something new and I immediately thought of Leonard's Famous Burgers in Acres Home.  They have been there for 57 years and serve some of the finest traditional style burgers in Houston.  I enjoyed a bacon cheeseburger combo all the way and it was fantastic.

Leonard's also made Robb Walsh's 100 Favorite Dishes in Houston and came in at #93. Read more about it here.

Burger Run

Saw a tweet from Bernie's Burger Bus announcing that they were parked in La Centerra shopping center in Katy. We couldn't pass up such an easy opportunity to support a local food truck, so the kids and I decided to make a last minute burger run. We had the beef sliders with pesto aioli and garlic roasted tomatoes with sweet potato fries.  The sliders we cooked to perfection and I really liked the creamy pesto aoli.

StrEAT Food

I decided to visit H-Town StrEATs food truck today and I am so glad I did. These guys are putting together some very original concepts along with some old favorites.

Today I sampled the Smoked Chicken Salad Grilled Cheese with Tomato and Havarti along with the Monte Cristo Balls.  The grilled cheese was crunchy on the outside and creamy and smoky on the inside. The Monte Cristo balls are a small piece of cheese wrapped with ham and then wrapped in dough.  This ball is then deep fried, dusted in powdered sugar and laid to rest on a berry jam.

If you are in Houston you shouldn't pass up an oppurtunity to try this food truck out.  You won't be disappointed!!!

The Burger Guys

The Burger Guys are putting out some top notch burgers. This trip I had a Houston burger with a fried duck egg, french fries, and a cafe sua da shake.

Good Eats

Great lunch at the Spork Grill truck. Duck and fig sausage on aged sourdough with grilled onions/sweet peppers.
