Just a few miles West of Katy lies the sleepy little town of Fulshear. I ventured out that way recently to take a break from relentless work and the need to get away from my desk at lunch. I have been to Dozier's a few other times and was never very impressed. Things were different this time but not all good. I ordered up the three meat plate with the normal sides of beans and potato salad. The highlight for me was the brisket even though there was very little smoke flavor. The meat was moist and flavorful but the lack of smoke flavor and bark left it a bit flat. But it was the best brisket I have had of all of my visits. The ribs were tender but also lacked a deep smoke flavor and were too salty for me. The sausage was good but nothing really stood out in flavor or texture.
Overall not a bad experience but when I eat BBQ I expect so much more than was delivered.
